The Urban Unit was established in 2006 as a Project Management Unit of the Planning and Development Department, Government of the Punjab. In 2012, it was transformed into a wholly Government owned company, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The organization employs highly qualified and experienced professionals. The fields of operations mainly include Urban Planning, Urban Transport, Solid Waste Management, Urban Water & Sanitation, Geographic Information Systems, Urban Property Tax and Land Records as well as Municipal Finance.

The Directorate of Urban Policy & Strategic Planning has been established with the objective of realizing the development potential of Urban Sindh. The Directorate has been mandated with the preparation of policies and plans as well as preparation and implementation of infrastructure development projects in Urban Sindh - on Pilot basis, that will lead to economic growth, job creation, planned urban development and will also address inequities caused by intra-urban and regional disparities. The focus areas of the Directorate are Urban Policy & Strategic Planning, Economic Regeneration & Investment Management, Urban Governance & Municipal Services, and Data & Information Management.

Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, Pakistan has a proud history and claims to be first public sector university of Pakistan to have attained ISO certification.In order to provide an opportunity of engineering education to the people hailing from the interior of Sindh Province, Sindh University Engineering College was established in 1963 as a constituent college of University of Sindh Jamshoro. The college was first declared as an additional campus of the University of Sindh in July 1976 and later upgraded to the level of independent University on 1st March, 1977. MUET offers courses in various specialized fields of Engineering, Sciences and Technology as well as Architecture and City and Regional Planning for undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral studies.
