Pakistan Urban Forum 2011

The first Pakistan Urban Forum 2011 was held in Lahore, Pakistan, from 1st to 5th March 2011. The Pakistan Urban Forum brought together a range of public sector professionals, ministers, local government officials, international and national urban experts, international development agencies, non-governmental and community organizations and academics, seeking a better urban future.

The Forum undertook a range of activities during the forum events to achieve vibrant discussion on research and policy work, events and outreach, publications and information, slideshows & documentaries, and video conferencing with leading urban sector experts.

The discussions during the Pakistan Urban Forum 2011 revolved around the main theme:

Managed Urbanization: The Road To National Development

A well-managed urbanization spurs economic growth, social harmony, good governance, political advances, and scientific progress, while poorly managed urbanization results in social exclusion, poverty, uncontrolled urban sprawl, environmental pollution, and unsustainable consumption of land, water and other natural or expensive resources.
